Downtown Mural Initiative

Murals are a beautiful and fun way of interjecting art, culture, and a “little color” into an area which is in keeping with FDFA’s goal of making Downtown Friendswood a more visually appealing and distinguishable area.

The Downtown Mural Initiative's goal is to bring 8 to 10 murals to the downtown area over the next five years. The FDFA "Public Arts & Culture" committee will be working with local artists and business owners to create these murals.

2018/2019 Project - Located at the opposite end of the Friendswood Historic Mural, the newest addition to this exciting project is a tribute to the collective spirit and togetherness that Friendswood displayed during and after the devistation of Hurricane Harvey. Our community showed trememdous strength and kindness to one another throught that difficult time, when 1/3 of our community lost their homes to the flood. Painted by artist Adam Socie, aka, PilotFx.

Stevenson Park Project - Currently Stevenson Park is being transformed in a partnership between local artist PilotFx, The Friends of Downtown Friendsood Association, Friendswood Fine Arts. A special thank you to the City of Friendswood Parks & Rec Dept for allowing us the space to help further beautify our community. If you haven't had a chance to stop by and visit the beautiful bird series that PilotFx has been working on, we encourage you to head over to explore the park and see them in person!

First Mural! - Completed November 2016

The Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association (FDFA), in partnership with Friendswood Fine Arts and Friendswood Historical Society, completed Downtown Friendswood’s very first public art mural project. The 22’ by 86’ mural is located on the northwest side of Home Town Center shopping center (center where Brasserie 1895 is located) and faces Skyview Terrance street across from the Frank J. Brown Museum.
The mural, was painted by renowned artist and muralist Anat Ronen, and is a colorful representation of Friendswood’s history, heritage, and values. It is the first in a series of murals for FDFA’s Downtown Mural Initiative.
