Downtown Mural Initiative

Murals are a beautiful and fun way of interjecting art, culture, and a “little color” into an area which is in keeping with FDFA’s goal of making Downtown Friendswood a more visually appealing and distinguishable area.

The Downtown Mural Initiative's goal is to bring 8 to 10 murals to the downtown area over the next five years. The FDFA "Public Arts & Culture" committee will be working with local artists and business owners to create these murals.

First Mural! - Completed November 2016

The Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association (FDFA), in partnership with Friendswood Fine Arts and Friendswood Historical Society, completed Downtown Friendswood’s very first public art mural project. The 22’ by 86’ mural is located on the northwest side of Home Town Center shopping center (center where Brasserie 1895 is located) and faces Skyview Terrance street across from the Frank J. Brown Museum.
The mural, was painted by renowned artist and muralist Anat Ronen, and is a colorful representation of Friendswood’s history, heritage, and values. It is the first in a series of murals for FDFA’s Downtown Mural Initiative.
